Powering Education, Empowering Futures

A collaborative microgrid project by GivePower, Solar Energy Honduras, Victron, and Pytes — bringing reliable solar power to support learning and opportunity for children in Honduras.

Introduction

GivePower is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving access to health, education, and essential services for vulnerable communities around the world.

In its search for a strategic partner in the region with proven experience and a strong commitment to sustainability, GivePower found the perfect ally in Solar Energy Honduras. Together, they launched a long-lasting and reliable solar microgrid project powered by Victron Energy technology — bringing clean, uninterrupted power to those who need it most.

The New Hope Opportunities Microgrid Project was created with a powerful social mission: to provide children and young people from low-income families the chance to study continuously and access high-quality, modern education. Before the installation, frequent power outages disrupted classes, limited computer use, and interrupted daily school activities.

Today, thanks to solar energy, the school operates seamlessly — with constant access to lighting, digital tools, and technical training workshops. For many students, this marks the first time they have experienced stable, continuous electricity — opening the door to greater academic opportunities and brighter career prospects.

The Challenge

Developing a reliable microgrid in this area presented several challenges. The project was executed in an urban environment with an unstable electrical grid, where power cuts and voltage fluctuations occurred almost daily. Transporting equipment through narrow, crowded streets required precise logistics and coordination with local authorities.

The installation also had to be completed without interrupting school activities, which demanded meticulous planning and tight scheduling. In addition, high temperatures and humidity called for durable, high-performance equipment. Victron Energy's robust components provided the flexibility, resilience, and advanced monitoring capability needed to ensure the systey's long-term reliability.

Why Pytes

For this project, the installer was encouraged to use Pytes batteries for the first time — and the results far exceeded expectations. The system demonstrated exceptional stability and performance in real-world operation, paving the way for more collaborations ahead.

Pytes delivers cost-effective, safe, and reliable energy storage solutions trusted in over 60 countries worldwide. Offering prices 30–40% lower than local brands and maintaining an exceptionally low 0.3% failure rate, all Pytes products are UL9540 certified and backed by up to 12 years of warranty plus $5 million U.S. product liability coverage, ensuring long-term reliability and peace of mind.

As an OBM manufacturer, Pytes designs and builds both high- and low-voltage ESS solutions with Tier-1 LiFePO₄ cells and self-developed BMS for complete quality control. Through continuous feedback from installers and rapid technological updates, Pytes delivers systems tailored to diverse market needs. With local warehouses, on-site technical support, and 24/7 communication via WhatsApp, email, and social media, Pytes guarantees fast delivery (within one week) and direct customer service.

Fully compatible with leading inverter brands like Sol-Ark and Victron, Pytes is installer-friendly and committed to long-term partnerships through its Power Partner Program, NABCEP-accredited training, and hands-on technical support.

The Outcome

Since commissioning, the microgrid has transformed the educational experience at New Hope Opportunities:

  • Over 165 students now enjoy continuous power for their classes, computers, and workshops.

  • Technical and vocational programs can now operate full-day, equipping students with practical skills for future employment.

  • The project has become a replicable model for educational microgrids across Honduras and Central America.

The collaboration between GivePower, Solar Energy Honduras, Victron Energy, and Pytes Energy proves that renewable energy does far more than generate electricity — it generates hope, opportunity, and a sustainable future.
