An aging three-phase hybrid generator system was originally powered by traditional lead-acid batteries. Over time, the system became heavier, slower to recharge, and increasingly difficult to maintain — limiting portability and overall performance.

Lead-acid technology added significant weight and reduced efficiency, while cold-weather operation further impacted reliability. The customer needed a modern solution that could:
i. Reduce system weight
ii. Improve charging speed
iii. Increase usable capacity
iiii. Perform reliably in freezing temperatures
iiiii. Extend the life of existing Victron equipment

The system was fully refurbished and repowered with Pytes V5 lithium batteries, transforming the legacy setup into a lighter, more efficient energy storage solution. Pytes batteries feature built-in heaters for optimal temperature control in cold climates and have been vibration tested, making them ideal for mobile and portable applications.

The upgrade delivered immediate performance improvements:
i. Nearly 2 tons lighter, improving portability
ii. Higher usable capacity
iii. Faster recharge times
iiii. Lower maintenance requirements
iiiii. More reliable operation in freezing conditions
iiiiii. Extended system lifespan — enabling the Victron equipment to operate for another 10+ years

This project demonstrates how older hybrid systems can be easily modernized with lithium storage. By replacing lead-acid with Pytes, the customer gained a lighter, smarter, and longer-lasting power solution — without replacing the entire system.
