60 Batteries. One Island. Zero Grid.

On one of the most remote islands in the Bahamas, a luxury family estate needed a power system that could operate completely off-grid — with zero margin for failure. Working alongside RG Electric Inc. and Sol-Ark, Pytes V5 batteries helped transform a complex installation into a reliable, scalable microgrid designed to deliver dependable energy in one of the Caribbean’s most logistically challenging environments.

Settings

Located on Long Island in the Bahamas, this private island property was designed as a secluded family retreat — far from cities, crowds, and utility infrastructure. The development includes multiple residences, guest houses, a utility garage, a dedicated powerhouse, and a marina. With no grid access available, the entire estate would rely solely on solar and battery storage for daily living. From lighting and HVAC to water systems and marine operations, every load on the property depends on one thing: reliable energy. To bring this vision to life, the owner partnered with RG Electric Inc., who led the system design and integration using Sol-Ark inverters and large-scale energy storage. But building an off-grid system in such a remote location quickly revealed challenges that required a dependable and fully compatible battery solution.

Challenges They Were Facing

Island projects present a very different set of constraints compared to mainland installations. There are no local supply stores, no replacement parts nearby, and no easy way to ship last-minute materials. Every component must be planned, tested, and delivered correctly the first time. Any oversight could delay the project for weeks. During early evaluation, the originally sourced batteries were also found to be incompatible with the inverters, creating communication and performance risks that were unacceptable for a mission-critical, off-grid application. For a property that would operate 100% independently, system stability wasn't optional — it was essential. RG Electric needed a battery platform that offered proven inverter compatibility, straightforward installation, and long-term reliability in a location where service access would always be limited.

Why Pytes

After consulting with Sol-Ark and reviewing approved battery options, the team selected Pytes. Pytes V5 batteries provided seamless communication with Sol-Ark inverters, modular scalability, and safe, automotive-grade LFP chemistry designed for long service life. Just as importantly, the architecture allowed flexible expansion as the estate's energy needs continued to grow.

For remote and off-grid environments, simplicity and reliability matter most. Pytes delivered both. With confidence in performance and support, RG Electric moved forward with Pytes as the core energy storage solution.

The Solution

Because of the island’s logistical limitations, RG Electric carefully pre-assembled and staged the system on the mainland before shipping. Wiring paths, busbars, and battery connections were prepared in advance to ensure installation would be fast and precise once equipment arrived on site. The system was deployed in phases, beginning with 40 Pytes V5 batteries. After smooth commissioning and stable operation, the owner expanded the project to the originally planned capacity of 60 batteries, creating a robust and fully scalable microgrid.

Paired with:

1) 180 ground-mount solar panels

2) 6 × Sol-Ark 15K inverters

3) Remote monitoring for diagnostics

The Pytes battery bank now forms the backbone of the estate's independent power infrastructure.

The Result

Today, the property operates exactly as intended — completely off-grid and energy independent. Solar energy generated during the day is stored efficiently and delivered reliably through the night. Multiple buildings, utilities, and marina operations run smoothly with consistent, stable power. Despite the site's isolation, the system requires minimal maintenance and provides the confidence that dependable energy will always be available. For both the owner and the integrator, the result is simple: peace of mind.

Projects like this are made possible through strong collaboration. Pytes is proud to support experienced partners like GR Electric Inc, whose thoughtful design, careful planning, and technical expertise helped bring this ambitious off-grid vision to life. Together with Sol-Ark, this project demonstrates how the right partnerships — and the right technology — can deliver reliable energy anywhere in the world.

From remote islands to urban homes, Pytes batteries are built to power what matters most — reliably, safely, and without compromise.
