Facing significant grid connection costs and long infrastructure upgrade timelines, a large-scale dairy farm in the UK needed a reliable and cost-effective energy solution to support its daily operations.
Working with Callidus Trade and Victron Energy, the farm deployed a complete off-grid solar + storage system featuring 500kWh of Pytes battery storage, providing reliable power, reducing diesel consumption, and improving energy independence.
For modern agricultural operations, reliable electricity is essential. This dairy farm produces approximately 18,000 liters of milk every day, requiring continuous power for critical processes including multiple daily milking sessions and farm operations.
However, connecting to the utility grid would have required a multi-million-pound investment, creating significant financial and logistical challenges.
The farm needed an energy solution that could:
1. Reduce dependence on diesel generators
2. Provide stable and reliable power around the clock3. Maximize renewable energy utilization
4. Avoid costly grid infrastructure upgrades

To overcome these challenges, Callidus Trade designed and delivered a fully integrated off-grid solar battery storage system.
The containerised energy storage solution was factory-built and tested before delivery, allowing for faster installation and reliable system commissioning on site.

The off-grid solar + battery storage system has successfully supported the farm's daily operations while significantly reducing reliance on diesel fuel.
The farm's annual diesel cost was originally estimated at approximately £120,000 per year. After system deployment, diesel consumption has already been reduced by more than two-thirds, with further optimization continuing.
The system provides stable energy support for daily dairy production, including three milking sessions per day and other critical agricultural processes.
