Pytes V16 × Solis 16K Supports Residential Energy Independence in Puerto Rico

This residential system in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico combines 4 Pytes V16 batteries with a Solis 16K hybrid inverter and 17.44 kW of solar panels, providing reliable backup, self-consumption, and energy independence for the homeowner.

The Background

In Hato Rey, San Juan, Puerto Rico, power interruptions remain a frequent challenge for homeowners. For this project, the homeowner already had a generator in place, but wanted a cleaner and more independent energy solution that could make better use of solar power.

The goal was to reduce reliance on the grid and generator by building a residential system designed around self-consumption, backup power, and future net metering. To support this need, Multibatteries Forklifts, CRL (MBF), in collaboration with Solar Fix as the installer, developed and delivered a solar + storage solution combining Pytes V16 batteries with a Solis 16K hybrid inverter.

The Challenge

The homeowner needed more than emergency backup. The system had to provide meaningful storage capacity for daily energy use, support greater independence from the local grid, and fit within a limited installation area.

Puerto Rico's outdoor environment also made product selection especially important. The battery system needed to be compact, durable, and suitable for long-term operation in tropical conditions. For the installer, the solution also had to be practical to install, commission, and monitor after the system was online.

System Setup

To address these needs, MBF worked together with Carlos Omar Martínez from Solar Fix as the installer on a residential system featuring:

1)4 × Pytes V16 batteries (16 kWh each, 64 kWh total)

2)1 × Solis 16K hybrid inverter (16 kW)

3)32 × Boviet 545 W solar panels (17.44 kW PV)

The V16 batteries offered high capacity in a compact footprint, IP66 protection, and built-in fire safety, ideal for outdoor use. The Solis 16K hybrid inverter ensured seamless single-phase 120/240Vac output and solar integration. The system was designed for both self-consumption and net metering, maximizing solar usage during the day while providing backup during outages. The Solar Fix installation team carefully managed layout, wiring, and system setup, with support from MBF, to help ensure long-term reliability.

Why Pytes

For this project, MBF and Solar Fix selected the Pytes V16 based on the product features and qualities required for the installation. The V16 offered the right balance of high capacity, compact dimensions, outdoor protection, and safety features for this residential energy storage project.

With 16 kWh per battery, the system achieved 64 kWh using only four units, which was a major advantage given the limited installation space. The V16's IP66 protection and built-in fire safety design also made it a strong fit for Puerto Rico’s tropical outdoor environment.

For installers, this combination helps simplify system planning while giving homeowners the storage capacity and confidence they need for a more resilient home energy system.

The Result

Since commissioning, the system has been operating well. The homeowner now has a high-capacity solar + storage solution designed to support backup power, self-consumption, and future net metering, while reducing dependence on the grid and generator.

This project also marks one of the first known residential installations integrating Pytes V16 with Solis 16K, highlighting the value of collaboration between battery manufacturers, inverter partners, project developers, and local installers.

Pytes is proud to support MBF, Solar Fix, and their local teams in delivering this successful installation. Together with our partners, Pytes will continue helping homeowners across Puerto Rico and the wider Caribbean region build safer, more reliable, and more independent home energy systems.
