Pytes V12 Supports Large-Scale Self-Consumption System for Wastewater Treatment Plant

Pytes is proud to share one of the latest energy storage projects completed by Battery DepotMex, featuring a large-scale Duravolt by Pytes V12 battery system for a wastewater treatment plant in Mexico.

Background

Wastewater treatment facilities require stable and continuous power to keep essential equipment and treatment processes running reliably. In Mexico, facilities like these often face pressure from high energy demand, grid dependence, and the need to modernize infrastructure for long-term operation. According to Mexico’s infrastructure data, wastewater treatment covers about 68.1% of collected flow, and modernization, rehabilitation, and expansion remain important needs in the water sector.

With electricity reliability becoming increasingly important for critical facilities, solar energy storage offers a practical way to improve self-consumption, reduce grid reliance, and support daily operations with greater stability. Mexico's electricity system has also faced stress during periods of extreme heat and record demand, increasing the importance of resilient power strategies for essential operations.

Project Overview

Battery DepotMex designed and installed a complete solar energy storage system that integrates Duravolt by Pytes V12 batteries with Victron inverter technology.

The system includes:

1) 34 × Duravolt by Pytes V12 batteries, 408 kWh total energy storage

2) 12 × Victron Quattro 15 kVA inverters, 180 kVA total inverter capacity

3) 10 × MPPT 450/200 solar charge controllers, 120 kWp solar PV generation

With this configuration, the plant can make better use of on-site solar energy throughout the day and rely on stored energy when solar production is lower. The electrical grid remains available as backup when needed.

The Challenge

The wastewater treatment plant required an energy solution that could support demanding operating conditions while improving overall energy independence.

Because the facility operates continuously, the system needed to do more than simply provide backup power. It had to support daily self-consumption, improve power stability, and help the plant manage energy use more efficiently over the long term.

The project focused on three key goals:

i. Increasing solar self-consumption
ii. Improving power stability

iii. Supporting long-term system reliability

The Solution

To meet these requirements, Battery DepotMex selected Duravolt by Pytes V12 as the core energy storage solution.

With 34 V12 batteries installed, the system stores solar energy generated during the day and makes it available during periods of lower production or higher demand. The Victron Quattro inverters and MPPT charge controllers work together with the battery bank to create a stable and flexible energy platform for the facility.

The installation was completed with a clean and well-organized layout, reflecting a high level of system design and professional execution. For a large-scale project like this, clear wiring, accessible equipment placement, and service-friendly design are important for long-term operation and maintenance.

Results

The completed system now provides strong energy support for the wastewater treatment plant, helping the facility improve solar utilization and reduce grid dependence.

Key results include:

i. Large-scale battery storage for self-consumption
ii. Stable power support for wastewater treatment operations
iii. Grid backup available when required
iiii. Clean and professional system installation

iiiii. Scalable design for demanding commercial and infrastructure applications

This project demonstrates how Pytes V12 can be applied beyond residential energy storage, supporting larger systems where storage capacity, reliability, and system integration are essential.

Supporting Practical Energy Storage Applications

Energy storage is becoming an important part of how critical facilities manage power. Instead of relying only on the grid, facilities can use solar and battery storage to improve resilience, reduce energy costs, and gain greater control over daily operation.

Pytes is proud to support Battery DepotMex in this successful installation and to see Duravolt by Pytes V12 used in one of the largest V12 systems installed to date.

Together with our partners, Pytes will continue delivering reliable and scalable energy storage solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure applications.
